Client improvements

The following improvements have been made to the Meridian Enterprise client applications:

ID Description

MRE-815

Some commands that could be disabled for a scope but remained visible in PowerUser are now properly hidden.
MRE-1089 The Meridian Enterprise Server audit log can now be opened from the Meridian Web Client.
MRE-1102, MRE-1621 Export packages and import packages can be viewed, export packages can be created, and documents added to export packages in PowerUser and the Meridian Web Client. For more information about import packages in this release, see What’s new in BlueCielo Meridian Explorer 2016.
MRE-1220 Usability of the Meridian Web Client has been improved. Editing properties no longer opens a new window. The properties can be edited in-place in the current window.

MRE-1220

Property pages are loaded on demand, which improves performance when switching documents.
MRE-1220 Error messages are shown in popup dialog boxes instead of on the property page itself.
MRE-1388 Fixed some conditions under which the asset management property pages would not appear.

MRE-1089

The Meridian Web Client can now show the Meridian Explorer audit log page for the current document if auditing is enabled for the vault.
MRE-1144 A new option Show ribbon menus has been added that, when enabled (default), shows horizontal MS Office style ribbon menus. If disabled, the classic vertical menus and toolbar are shown instead.

MRE-1154

The data types of the columns in reports (MS Excel worksheets) generated with the Meridian Web Client now match the data types of the properties that are included in the report. Previously, the worksheet data type was General, which could cause undesirable formatting depending on the data type of the property.
MRE-1430 Clicking the Help icon in the Meridian Web Client now opens the Meridian Web Client chapter of the BlueCieloMeridian Enterprise User's Guide at the BlueCielo Technical Library by default. The default site can be configured by a system administrator as described in the BlueCieloMeridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide such as for online help deployed behind a corporate firewall.

MRE-1444

Empty date fields are now the same width as fields that contain values.

MRE-1465

The Synchronize Properties from File, Synchronize Properties to File, and Synchronize References from File commands are now available in the Meridian Web Client. Only AutoCAD and MicroStation drawings are supported.
MRE-1571 The Create New Version and Replace Document commands are no longer available in PowerUser when the document is in the Unchanged state. Previously, they were available but invalid for unchanged documents and generated an error.
MRE-1654 The values of more than 9 title block properties now show correctly in the Meridian Web Client.

MRE-1687

The current setting of the Hide inactive project copies option in the Show Master and Project Copies view in the Meridian Web Client is now saved between sessions.

MRE-1783

Meridian Enterprise is represented by a new icon .

MRE-1850 The quantity of sub-folders and documents in a folder are now shown below the navigation pane when a folder is selected in the Meridian Web Client.

MRE-1861

The Publisher Queue can now be opened from the Meridian Web Client.

MRE-1867

The Polish language is now supported by the Meridian Enterprise and Meridian Explorer clients.
MRE-1884

The improved navigation tree that was introduced in the Meridian Web Client in release 2015 is now the default user experience. New features in the Meridian Web Client may require the new navigation tree and the old navigation tree might be unsupported in a future release. We recommend that all users upgrade to the new navigation tree.

After upgrading to Meridian Enterprise 2016, users whose Meridian Web Client profile contains the setting GridTree=0 (disabled) might see an empty window after opening a vault.

To resolve this issue and upgrade to the new navigation tree:

  1. In the Meridian Web Client, open the Preferences page.
  2. Click OK without making any changes.
  3. Log off and log back on.

For more information about the profile settings, see the release 2015 Client improvements.

MRE-1942

The Explorer view has been renamed to Folders to prevent confusion with the Explorer client.
MRE-1979 The Meridian Web Client now correctly shows vaults for selection from multiple Meridian servers if the setting Hide vaults to which a user has no access option is enabled.

MRE-2027

Batches of renditions downloaded to local workspace by the Meridian Web Client are now read-only (the same as PowerUser) to prevent file locking that interferes with repository synchronization.

MRE-2164

The ItemsToFind registry value that specifies how many tags are listed by the Meridian Asset Management Module now also affects the Meridian Web Client. For more information, see BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide.

MRE-2188 The default behavior of the Meridian Web Client has been changed so that external references are synchronized by default. Previously, they were not synchronized by default and the SyncRefs registry value had to be set to 1.

For more information, see BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise User's Guide.
